The Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) has issued detailed guidelines concerning the joining time for candidates recommended for appointment. According to the directive, based on Circular No.96060/ADV.C3/94/P&ARD dated 22/11/1994, Appointing Authorities are empowered to grant an extension of joining time for up to 45 days upon a candidate's request in deserving cases. For situations requiring an extension beyond 45 days, typically for candidates completing ongoing educational courses or training, such requests must be forwarded to the Government (or the concerned Administrative Department) through the Appointing Authority for approval.

Candidates seeking an extension must submit their application to the Appointing Authority within 45 days from the date of their Appointment Order. This ensures that all requests are processed officially and within the stipulated timeframe, allowing candidates to complete necessary academic commitments before joining.
